Dr. Benveniste is a clinical psychologist with extensive experience working with adults and adolescents. He has a longstanding commitment to clinical practice, community service, professional education, and writing for professionals and the general public. He is the author of Libido, Culture, and Consciousness: Revisiting Freud's Totem and Taboo (2022), The Interwoven Lives of Sigmund, Anna and W. Ernest Freud: Three Generations of Psychoanalysis (2015) and is the editor of Anna Freud in the Hampstead Clinic: Letters to Humberto Nágera (2015).
His clinical practice is dedicated to adults and late adolescents struggling with a range of difficulties including communication problems, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, shyness, marital difficulties, family discord, mid-life crises, emigration, young adults leaving home, and adjustment reactions to life changes.
He offers psychodynamic psychotherapy, counseling, parent consultation and public lectures. He is bilingual in English and Spanish. His practice has always included many international patients and he is currently a Visiting Professor of Clinical Psychology at the Wuhan Mental Health Center at Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Hubei, in The Peoples Republic of China.
